SpamX

Jeff Hendrickson, creator of SpamX from Hendrickson Software Components (hsc), has extensive experience programming software for Windows, Macintosh and Linux environments. Using Visual Basic, he developed a unique spam tracking and reporting application, SpamX, for Windows. He wanted to offer it for Windows, Macintosh and Linux desktop environments to reach the widest possible audience for his automated spam reporting software.

When Jeff set out to research cross-platform software development tools, he knew he was looking for the unique combination of a powerful development environment that provided easy software deployment for Windows, Macintosh and Linux. Jeff evaluated many different products, yet found none that met the criteria of being able to develop a cross-platform application from a single source code base that has simple yet powerful deployment capabilities.

Jeff downloaded the trial version of REALbasic. He wrote a program that tested a lot of the controls and compiled it. Then he ran it on a Windows computer, a Linux computer, and a Macintosh. It worked. Perfectly.

"I can't tell you how impressed I am with your product, and I can't tell you how hard I looked for alternatives before I found REALbasic."

After he saw how it worked, he bought REALbasic Professional Edition and started porting SpamX, his best-selling software application.

According to Jeff, "REALbasic provides a fully object-oriented development environment with networking and email protocols for fast and easy cross-platform development, so that I can create all of this, beautifully, from a single code base. As a result, SpamX is an impressive cross-platform software application that has a rich user interface and is easily deployed for Windows, Macintosh and Linux."

"It's not just that REALbasic has the ability to create cross-platform applications," commented Jeff. "I love how the REALbasic development environment packages an application so it is self-contained in one executable. This means you don't have to install any support libraries, any frameworks, any Java Virtual Machines, nothing. You install it on Windows, you install it on a Macintosh, you install it on Linux, and it just runs."
